8 weeks of free time sounds amazing, right? But in our hyper-productivity culture, it can be hard to know what to do, how to relax, when you have so much time on your hands. Here are some things – many productive, a few not so much – that you can do this summer.
Start new habits
- start planning your day ahead of time
- drink a glass of water and go for a run after you wake up
- reset your internal clock so you can wake up earlier
- review last year’s school content by using anki
- bring down your screen time to an hour a day
Learn something
- start learning a new language on duolingo
- take an onine course on coursera or EdX (you can audit any course for free!)
- find podcasts about a topic you’re interested in
- make a reading list
- learn by doing: create a youtube channel about your hobbies & interests
Become healthier
- find a sport that you enjoy and do 30 minutes of it every day
- meditate for 5 minutes in the mornings
- start yoga or stretching
- sign up for a team sport or go to run/cycle/swim groups
- cut out food that makes you feel bad
Get organised
- deep-clean your room or house
- declutter your computer & phone by deleting old files and photos
- create a new day-planning system
- set up a bullet journal or a catch-all notebook system
- get ahead on schoolwork before the year starts
Enjoy your summer
- pick up an old hobby
- make a bucket list and start checking off items
- contact a friend you lost touch with and try to organise a meet-up
- volunteer for a cause that means a lot to you
- take a class in something you would never normally do
