How to motivate yourself to study

It can be really difficult to motivate yourself to study, especially if you don’t like the subject that much. However, the new school year has just begun, so it’s important to start studying regularly to get the grades you want. Here are a couple of tips that can help you be a little more motivated:

Make studying fun

If something isn’t fun then you probably won’t want to do it, right? The same rule applies to studying – try to use fun study methods, like using Kahoot! You can also romanticise studying by listening to music or making pretty notes 🙂 I even have a whole post about how to make studying more enjoyable!

Look for inspiration

Another great way to motivate yourself to study is to find inspiration. You can find studyspo on Pinterest, Youtube, and Instagram. This can help you get back into the study mindset + it’s a form of romanticisation! Personally, my favourite source of inspiration is this studygram and this Youtube channel (tee hee!)

Competition can be healthy

While comparing yourself to other people isn’t very healthy, some competition can be good. Challenge yourself to get the highest grade in the class on the next test! Remember not to take this too far though – your grades don’t define you. Also, try not to compare yourself to individual people, since this can lead to resentment and jealousy.

Start with a small plan

Another way to get back on track and be motivated is to make a study schedule. Start it off small – try studying a subject you enjoy for 1 hour a day. Creating a plan can make studying feel less daunting so you’ll be more willing to study. As well as this, creating a plan in and of itself is productive, so you’ll feel better about yourself and more accomplished.

Consider your future

Thinking about your future + your reason for studying can help you be motivated! This is because you’re reminding yourself of the reason you started this journey in the first place, You can create an aspirational mood board with images from Pinterest to inspire you! Keep it somewhere visible so that every time you pass it, you’ll feel motivated to study.
