How to use Chat GPT to study

Yes, I know I’m super late for this trend. Oh well. No matter how much I dislike it, it seems Chat-GPT ( and other AI tools) will be an important part of our daily lives. And while you shouldn’t get Chat-GPT to write all your essays for you (I’ve tried, and it’s really not a good writer), you can still use it to help you out with studying.

Making flashcards

If you want to make some flashcards on quizlet or anki, that can take a lot of time. Instead, copy and paste the relevant information, and ask Chat-GPT to write you some flashcards. Go through them once it’s done to make sure you didn’t leave out any information!

Learning a language

If you’re learning a new language, you can ask Chat-GPT to write some sentences for you to practice translating. Alternatively, ask it to check over your writing to find spelling errors or areas for improvement.

Summarise a textbook

Textbooks can be very, very long. And they can also be filled with information that’s not exactly relevant. If you want to quickly skim your textbook, copy and paste the text into Chat-GPT, asking it to summarise it in bullet points. Set a word limit to ensure it’s not too long!

Make a quiz

Want to do some active recall but can’t find any practice questions you like? Copy and paste the information about your topic into Chat-GPT, and ask it to write a 20-question, multiple-choice quiz for you. You can even turn it into a Kahoot after!

Find new words

Are you writing something and can’t seem to find the right word? Describe the word and offer some words that have similar meanings and connotations. Also, ask it to list a few options. That’ll make it more likely that you’ll find the word you’re looking for!
