The ultimate guide to an ultra-productive summer

While it’s important to relax during the summer, there’s also a lot of useful things you can do during the summertime. However, remember to enjoy yourself as well, and don’t just study all day – balance is key to productivity!

Table of Content
  • Learn a new skill
  • Volunteer for an organisation
  • Get ready for the next term
  • Find an internship
  • Read books
  • Study what you love
  • Relax!

Learn a new skill

One of the best things you can do during the summer is to learn a new skill. Whether this be through taking an online course, watching tutorials, or reading a guide – any method is good. Not only do you stand a chance to gain a new hobby or passion, but it’s something that you can put on your resume! Try taking a coding course on EdX or learning a new language on Duolingo!

Volunteer for an organisation

Unfortunately, summertime isn’t fun for everyone. There are a lot of people (and animals) out there who could use your help – consider volunteering during the summer! Find a cause or shelter that means a lot to you, and ask if you can help out or support them in any way. It’ll mean a lot to you, as well as the people you help!

Get ready for the next term

Another thing you could do during the summer is study. Review the work you did in the previous academic year, and get ready for the coming year. Read the texbook, watch informational videos on YouTube, and start making notes on the content that you’ll be learning in the next year. Not only is this a productive activity to occupy your time with, but it means that you’ll have more time during the school year to relax, rather than intensely study the material.

Find an internship

Finding an internship is also very productive, Though it may be difficult to find a place you’d like to intern at, internships can be very rewarding. Not only do they look fantastic on your resume and university applications, but they’re also very important opportunities for learning and growth!

Read books

While it’s important to relax during the summer, you shouldn’t take that as a sign to lay on the couch and binge Netflix all day. If you want to do something fun yet productive, try reading some books! Set yourself a goal for the number of books you’d like to read, and try to reach it before the end of the summer. Read widely as well! Experiment with new genres and author styles.

Study what you love

If you already know what you want to study at university, or if there’s a subject that you’re extremely passionate about, then immerse yourself in it during the summer! Super-curricular activities are so important. Complete a course about your subject, read books and magazines, watch a documentary! There are many rewarding things you can do to learn more about what you’re passionate about.

Relax!

Finally, the most important thing you can do during the summer is to relax. While this may not seem super productive or useful, it’s imperative that you relax. Taking care of yourself is the best way to prevent burnout and stress, neither of which contribute to your productivity! Remember to relax during the summer, since it’s your summer break after all!
