How to be productive, even if you’re a serial procrastinator

It can be pretty difficult to get stuff done, especially if you’re a person who procrastinates a lot. Luckily for you, I’ve made this post as a guide to all the other extreme procrastinators to help you finally be productive.

Table of Content
  • Remove distractions
  • Break it down
  • Take lots of breaks
  • Reward yourself
  • Find accountability

Remove distractions

If you want to get work done, you must remove any distractions near you. Switch off your phone and put it in another room; move away from loud and annoying people; install a website blocker to prevent you from going on distracting websites. Removing all the distractions around you can help you avoid excuses for not working and avoid procrastination.

Break it down

A lot of the time, people procrastinate because the task seems too daunting to even start thinking about. In order to combat this, try breaking down the task into little steps. They seem more achievable and give you a sense of accomplishment that can motivate you to finish the task.

Take lots of breaks

It’s super important to take breaks and make sure you don’t burn out. However, if you’re a procrastinator, then you might find it difficult to get back on task after taking a break. That’s why you should take short but frequent breaks – short enough to keep you in a productive mindset but frequent enough to keep your energy levels high.

Reward yourself

If you’re finding it really difficult to finish a task, then offer yourself a light at the end of the tunnel. Promising yourself a reward can be really motivational and can help you finally stop procrastinating and get work done.

Find accountability

One of the best ways to stop procrastinating is to find an accountability partner. Tell a friend your goals and deadlines, and ask them to keep you accountable to your goals. The increased pressure of not wanting to disappoint a friend can help you stop procrastinating on important goals.
