5 super productive things to do over the holidays

Winter break is coming, and for a lot of people, that means hours of doing nothing but watching Netflix all day. However, this break from school can be utilised much more efficiently! If you have some time on your hands that you want to spend productively, then look no further than this post 🙂

Study for next term

I hate to say it, but one of the best things you can do over the winter break is to study. Whether that’s revising the content you’ve already learnt or reading ahead for the next unit, studying over the winter holidays can benefit you massively, especially if you have exams immediately after coming back (pov: me). Take this time to consolidate your notes, do a couple of past papers, and look through your old flashcards. Now that you have more time, why not study with a friend to make it more fun?

Learn something new

If you want to take a break from studying, I get it. Instead, you can use the time to learn a new skill! Whether you want to take a cooking class for fun or an online course to put on your CV, keeping your mind active during the holidays is super productive. Personally, I love using online resources like edX or Coursera to learn new skills through free online courses 🙂

Get work experience

You can also consider using the winter break to build your CV or college applications. Try applying for various internships, or find somewhere to work and earn some extra spending money. Think about what you’re interested in, and see if any local businesses in those industries need a helping hand. This is the perfect time to network and make your college applications stand out!

Do something good

It’s the season of giving, but that doesn’t always require money. If you want to do something good for your community, find a local shelter to volunteer at. You might even want to support them further – try contacting them to organise a fundraiser or create a campaign to raise awareness or money for them. If you don’t have the time for such a big project, then you can still donate old clothes and toys to local charities.

Work on yourself

New year, new me. You can also spend the winter holidays glowing up your mental and physical health! Read a self-help book or two and see what you can learn from it, try implementing at least 3 tips from each one into your daily life. You can also use this time to learn some healthy recipes or get back into sports and exercise!
