How mindfulness can help you get better grades

We don’t normally think of mindfulness and taking breaks as super-productive, but they are! Here’s a few ways that mindfulness can help you as a student.

Table of Content
  • Reducing stress
  • Increasing focus
  • Improving memory
  • Preventing perfectionism
  • Increasing performance

Reducing stress

Mindfulness can be incredibly beneficial in preventing exam stress. By focusing on the moment instead of on the future, you’ll focus on the task at hand instead of the exams you have soon. Mindfulness can help decrease both internal stress (perfectionism and anxiety) and external stress (people’s expectations).

Increasing focus

This is for everyone that gets distracted super quickly: mindfulness can help you with that! Meditation, a form of mindfulness, is incredibly helpful in increasing focus. By practicing concentrating your attention on a single thing while meditating, you start to train your focusing muscle, which can help you study for longer without getting distracted!

Improving memory

We all want to memorise everything we read so we can get super-high grades. Unfortunately, that isn’t always possible. However, mindfulness is shown to improve memory! If you want to get higher grades and improve your knowledge, then mindfulness is an easy way to do that.

Preventing perfectionism

Perfectionism is one of the most disheartening academic struggles. Through meditation, you can start to battle your perfectionism and accept mistakes. This is because a key element of mindfulness is decreasing judgement. By not judging yourself and your grades, you can start to decrease your perfectionism and improve your mental health!

Increasing performance

In addition to all these amazing benefits, mindfulness can improve your grades overall. In a study of Taiwanese students, researchers found that mindfulness can increase the learning efficiency and overall grades, even when only implemented for a short time!
