6 things to do to prepare for the new year

2023 is just around the corner, and you’ll want to start it off as well as possible. That’s why you should do these things to prepare yourself for a fresh start and set yourself up for success and productivity!

Table of Content
  • Evaluate your year
  • Plan for the year ahead
  • Make a vision board
  • Make a bucket list
  • Declutter your life
  • Let go of negativity

Evaluate your year

In a journal, new notes page, or whatever your preferred writing medium is, take the time to evaluate 2022. Think about what you enjoyed, what productivity strategies worked well, and what you’d like to keep in the next year. As well as this, think about what you can improve on: what didn’t work so well? What were your weaknesses? What could you do better?

Plan for the year ahead

Make sure that you have a plan for 2023, otherwise, you might end up directionless! Try to choose a theme for your year, make a few resolutions, and choose some habits to make or break. As well as this, consider your weekly schedule, and think about what you’d like to get done each day.

Make a vision board

Now, this is more of a fun one: try making a vision board of what you’d like to achieve in the coming year. First, write a list of everything that you’d like to accomplish in the year or season. Then, choose a few images that best represent those goals (I like to use Pinterest for this!), and create your vision board on Canva!

Make a bucket list

Another fun thing you can do is make a bucket list. This is a list of what you want to do during the year. Remember that this is different to your new year’s resolutions though, as resolutions are more like goals you want to work towards, and a bucket list is a list of fun things you want to experience during the year.

Declutter your life

To prepare yourself for a year of productivity, try to declutter your life and clean up your spaces. Start with your room: donate old clothes you don’t wear, books you don’t want to read, and notes you won’t need to use anymore. You can also do a digital declutter: delete apps you don’t use and documents you won’t need.

Let go of negativity

Finally, remove everything in your life that is dragging you down. Cut yourself off from negative people, try to get rid of bad habits, and stop consuming media that you don’t like or is negatively affecting you.
